The Pending Tom Brady Drama
by Mike on Jul.19, 2010, under NFL
Ok Pat’s fans time to have a quick discussion.
I want you to ignore the majority of sports radio for a moment. I have some very very sad news, news I should have put out back in February or January. Do not plan on Tom Brady being signed by the Patriots. If he is signed, which is unlikely to me, it will be because they use the franchise tag on him. With this screwed up agreement between the owners and players the next year or so, may apply to him in 2011. I will admit to not doing my homework on that end of things.
The issue is Brady wants to be the highest paid player / quarterback in all of Football. The cheap Kraft family wants him to take a home town discount. These two points of view will not find a middle ground. The Kraft family is famous for screwing players and not following thru on hand shake deals, on that just ask Curtis Martin and Bill Parcels.
So Patriot fans, be aware, you will start to hear how Tom Brady is not a team player and how slow he is starting to get, that is Patriot speak for “He wants too much money”. So enjoy 2010 folks, rebuilding is in your future for 2011.
Also the team leading in the club house for get Brady is the 49ers, remember you heard that here first.

The Walking Wounded, Boston RedSox
by Mike on Jul.07, 2010, under MLB
Hello Peeps,
Well, it has been a good summer so far. Which has given me a break from the blog, but I will be back more often. Plus Football season is getting closer and closer.
Now, I am sure RedSox Nation is going to be flipping over the losing streak, but the world is not coming to an end. The honest truth is, the team is hurt and hurt badly, believe me I know, Beckett is on my fantasy team and he is killing me. Someone please get him away from JD Drew’s doctor, so he can pitch a god damn baseball again.
The other good truth to this is that the team, although they are losing is coming to play each and every night. They are giving effort each and every night, their are many many teams in baseball right now wish they could say the same thing. The team is also getting some of these young players some key experience, which will be helpful when it comes time for the August run for the wildcard / division.
So before you head to the Tobin bridge to jump, take a good hard look at who is on the injured list and think, even with those names on the list, the RedSox are only 3.5 games back from leading the division.
Know when to smile folks.

Stomping on the Emergency Button, RedSox 2010
by Mike on May.09, 2010, under MLB
Hello People,
This 140M dollar dog team is starting to go down the tubes and it is going down the tubes quick. Mind you, MPDSports told you exactly how this would go, and begged, pleaded, and yelled for you to make different decisions. So now here we are at the start of May and the hole is getting deeper and deeper. This team has proven, as it is now constituted, that it cannot beat the top two teams the Yankees and the Rays. So far the RedSox is 1 and 5 vs the Yankees and 0 and 4 vs the Rays. The RedSox vs the Yankees have scored 20 runs, while the Yankees have scored 40, RedSox has scored 9 runs vs the Rays while the Rays have scored 26. Those stats are damning, and they are not going to get any better, does anyone right now really think that these stats are going to improve over time. Do we have any evidence that this team as it exists right now can improve. I am sorry but MPDSports does not believe that this is a winning team and the RedSox cannot win against the top teams in the AL East.
So RedSox management needs to make a decision. They need to either let this team suck and suck big time this year, or spend more money and pray for good things to happen. The hole that is dug, is deep. Currently the Redsox are 7.5 games behind Tampa and 7 games behind the Yankees. If you are going to spend more money to save this team, we suggest the following:
- As much as we like Big Papi, he needs to be sent down to Pawtucket. He has to hit the ball to the opposite field. Which we at MPDSports have been saying for years now. Right now you just cannot keep Big Papi in the DH role and hope for a good outcome, because it is not going to happen. Until he can beat the shift and get on base, he is a liability to this team.
- To fill the void at DH you need to go get a big bat. I hate to say these two names, but Dye and Bonds are free agents and right now you need offense. Personally I am not sure if either of these two can play anymore. I think Dye would be better than Bonds, but gods know by how much. Personally, I do not care who the RedSox go get, as long as they go get someone not on this team to fill the DH roll.
- When Ellsbury gets back from injury, he is your Center Fielder. He is not a left fielder, he is not going to be a left fielder, what part of this does your freakin organization not understand. He has speed and range, and no arm, you know what that makes him, a Freakin Center Fielder, Get the Freakin Clue, you Freakin Stiffs at RedSox Management Compound. He is a great base stealer which you need on this team, know when to be happy.
- Put Mike Lowell on 3rd base and thank the Freakin Gods that Texas was too stupid to take him. You need to hit the baseball and Mike Lowell can hit a Freakin baseball. Again, know when to be happy. Beltre was a stupid signing, so to pay for your stupidity he becomes your defensive replacement for Lowell in the late innings.
- This is unlikely but I will put it down anyways, you need a LF that can hit a baseball. This would be a very hard pill for RedSox management to swollow, but the Dodgers curently blow and Manny could be had and may even be had for cheap. Now I know how unlikely it would be for all the personallites involved, but if you sit back and think it can work. Manny will take all the heat from your role players who honestly cannot take the heat in the kitchen. Because the Earth the Moon and the Stars all revolve around Planet ManRam, which will help your team BIGTIME. The other end of this, he is a Prime Time Player and you know what Prime Time Players do, they win games. Right now the RedSox have no Prime Time Players and the rest of MLB know it. You need to put some fear into the AL East and the only one availible that can do that is Planet ManRam.

NFL 2010 Draft
by Mike on Apr.25, 2010, under NFL
Hello People,
This was not a great draft. I would also say, not that many winners. I did not see really any team that had the great, incredible draft. It was nice to have it on prime time for the frst round. Which for me was awesome.
One of the things that still baffles me, is how on Gods green earth do you leave 2 pro style quarterbacks out of the first round. Especially in a draft that had very very few pro caliber Quarterbacks in it. Which leads me to the 3 teams that sucked in this draft.
- Denver, for the love of god, what made you think that Tim Tebow was a first round draft choice. Then to make comments that he is only going to be considered as a Quarterback. Really, when you teach him to actually throw a football, let me know. All I can tell you Denver fans. Al Davis would not have made that draft move.
- Jacksonville, did you look at your passing stats last year… What part of you sucking did you not understand. You go out in 2010 and draft nothing but defensive players. Great job, Instead of Indy dropping 34 points a game on your dumb ass, they will only drop 28. Nice job morons, now you only lose the game by 10 points.
- Bufallo, sadly that was not the position for you to draft a running back. Which was not the best available player on the board, or even the strongest need you had. Your Quarterback position is troublesome. Think maybe, just maybe, you drop down in the draft and maybe get some more picks and maybe add a Quarterback.
That is it for now folks.

The RedSox’s having some early issues.
by Mike on Apr.18, 2010, under MLB
Hello Peeps,
Well their have been 4 series played so far. The RedSox have won 1 series against the Royals, which is what a 1/3 of the RedSox payroll. Now against winning teams (Yankees, Twins, and Rays) the RedSox have been smoked and smoked bad. For a team with a 170 million payroll, you have to start winning these kind of series. Right now you have a great chance of getting swept by the Rays in a 4 game series against your best pitching… That is a very very big problem.
Currently the team is batting .255, you had bases loaded with no outs in an extra inning game and cannot score a single freakin run. Then to make matters worse these new players that was supposed to play defense cannot play defense and your center fielder does not even look remotely comfortable in the postion. This team right now is tied for the 3rd worse in all of the American League in errors. Someone in mangement needs a wake up call.
It is early in the season, but things have to change or this very very expensive team could end up 4th or worse in the AL East and that is damning… You should be greatful that Baltimore has injuries to key players.

The Left Field Experience, RedSox Style
by Mike on Apr.10, 2010, under MLB
Hello People
When you lose to the Kansas City Royals who is like a 3rd of your payroll, your team has issues. Now lets be honest, I know it is early in the season but left field is a serious issues. Ellsbury is a center fielder and a great one at that. He simply does not have the arm for a corner outfielder position. This should have been obvious in spring training for a college team, why a major league franchise cannot figure this out escapes me.
The winning run by Kansas City should have been thrown out at home plate easily. I mean Manny would have thrown him out, remember folks Manny did throw people out at home plate, I know that fact does not sit well with the Red Sox Propaganda but it is the truth. You also know if Jason Bay was in that position he would have gunned that winning run out at home plate as well.
You have to play smart baseball and right now that is simply not happening and someone in the organization better wake up to that reality quickly or it is going to be a very very long season.

MLB 2010 Preview
by Mike on Apr.03, 2010, under MLB
Hello People,
Well we start up a new Baseball season tomorow. So here is my view of the American League:
AL East
- NY Yankees
- Boston RedSox
- Tampa Bay Rays
- Baltimore Orioles
- Toronto Blue Jays
It is really simple, the Yankees will win the AL East easily this year. Now the 2nd thru 4th place is up for grabs between the RedSox, Rays, and Orioles. Do not overlook the improvements that the Orioles have made, they are going to win some games, you heard it here first. No need to really say anything about the Jays, dead of the deadest of last place.
AL Central
- Detroit Tigers
- Chicago White Sox
- Minnesota Twins
- Kansas City Royals
- Cleveland Indians
It is a hard go in this division. Good teams not great, none of them will win the AL. It is a 3 team race between the Tigers, White Sox and Twins, honestly any of these 3 teams can finish in the top position. I just believe that the best manager is in Detriot and that is why they will win. Royals is a young team that should improve and the Indians sadly are the Indians.
AL West
- Texas Rangers
- Seattle Mariners
- LA Angels
- Oakland A’s
This division is a 2 team race, the improved Mariners and the Rangers. I believe it will be a neck to neck race for both of these teams throughout the season. Angels and A’s simply it is not going to be their season.

New Orleans Saints are SuperBowl Champions!!!
by Mike on Feb.07, 2010, under NFL
Way to go Saints….
As we said, the Saints won the game and of course won with all the lovely points Vegas gave you.. Plus a solid 14 point victory to boot, which makes me look good, but the game was not a blow out until the very very end.
Personally, the Saints coaching staff in the first half of the game truly sucked. The first half game plan was utterly pathetic and the Saints was lucky that Peyton Manning only touched the ball 3 times in the 2nd quarter. I want to know, how do you have a game plan that does not take Addai out of the game, the Saints are lucky that the rookie coach for the Colts did not figure that out or the Colts would have won the game. Then the Saints coaching staff needs to look up the screen play, the 1 screen play they ran went for a touch down, next year get the freakin clue and get a few of them in the play book.
Still as bad as the coaching staff was for the Saints in the first half, they were awesome in the 2nd half. In the 2nd half the Saints offense figured out the Colts defense and the Colts defense never had a prayer once that happened.
It was a great SuperBowl, It was a great performance by both teams.
The Saints are SuperBowl Champions… The Saints are SuperBowl Champions… Let the Titties and the Beads reign in New Orleans Tonight….

SuperBowl Sunday Pick’s
by Mike on Feb.05, 2010, under NFL
Hello Folks,
Well, we are coming to the end of the football season.. It is always a bittersweat time. After the game, no football for months.. Which is always sooo sad.
Let’s get to the game. This is an easy pick, Take the Saints with the 5+ points and straight up. Although the Colts have a great offense, their defense cannot compete with the Saints offense. I believe it will be a blow out with the Saints easily winning the game.
